Petra GOMEZ-KRÄMER (https://l3i.univ-larochelle.fr/personnel-laboratoire/gomez-kramer-petra/), from the L3i lab (Université of La Rochelle) will give a talk entitle “Perceptual hashing and its application in environmental surveillance”

Abstract: First, I will present the Images et Digital Contents group of the L3I, before focusing on our recent work on perceptual hashing. Perceptual hashing involves computing a fingerprint of an image based on its perceptually significant content. This method is very fast and efficient and has therefore mainly been used for active image authentication and fast image retrieval. In this talk, I will present the concept of perceptual hashing, its requirements, and its application to environmental surveillance. Specifically, I will present a perceptual hashing-based method for scene change detection, as well as a method for fine-grained image retrieval.
